Paul George and Derrick White combined for 49 points to lead the Boston Celtics to a 109-102 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night. The win snapped a brief home losing streak for Boston, which had lost its previous game to Houston, and extended their undefeated home record to five games.

The Bucks, who entered the game with a 1-6 record, mounted a strong third-quarter comeback. They erased a 22-point deficit built in the first half, closing the gap to single digits with a 26-12 run. Tyler Herro scored 18 of his 25 points during that stretch, while Jaime Jaquez Jr. added 18 points for Milwaukee.

The game remained tight into the fourth quarter. Nate Ament tied the score at 91 after a fast-break layup, and he gave Milwaukee its first lead of the night at 92-91 with a free throw. Boston was without Jayson Tatum, who sat out for the first time this season to rest, and Payton Pritchard missed the final quarter due to a right eye abrasion.

Derrick White stabilized Boston’s offense in the closing minutes. He converted a sequence of plays to put the Celtics ahead 102-97 with 2:22 remaining. Boston outscored Milwaukee 12-5 over the final three minutes to secure the win.

George, who scored 25 points and made five three-pointers, threw the ball away during a timeout late in the game, allowing Ament to score the tying basket. Baylor Scheierman provided a spark off the bench for Boston with nine points and 11 rebounds. The Celtics shot 41% from three-point range, hitting 16 of 39 attempts.

Milwaukee falls to 1-7 on the season, with a 0-4 record on the road. They will host the Toronto Raptors on Friday night. Boston begins a four-game road trip against the Charlotte Hornets, also on Friday night.
