Lee County Trojans enter national Top 25 as Georgia leads Week 12

Lee County entered the NationalHSFB.com Top 25 this week, marking a new high for the Trojans. The team moved into the No. 25 spot after sitting out last week's update. This joins three other Georgia schools that have dominated national rankings for most of the season: Buford, Carrollton, and Thomas County Central.

Lee County is currently 8-1 on the season. The Trojans face Houston County on Friday in their regular-season finale. Their only defeat came on Sept. 25, a 49-26 loss to Thomas County Central. In AJC Varsity’s Class 6A rankings, Lee County sits at No. 3.

Buford remains the top-ranked Georgia team in most major polls. The Hawks are No. 3 in the NationalHSFB.com rankings, No. 3 in MaxPreps, and No. 3 in USA Today. ESPN SC Next and High School on SI also list Buford in the top five.

Carrollton holds the No. 14 spot in NationalHSFB.com but ranks No. 10 in MaxPreps and No. 11 in USA Today. Thomas County Central is No. 13 in NationalHSFB.com, No. 11 in MaxPreps, and No. 13 in USA Today. The Braves have been a consistent presence in the national conversation.

Other Georgia teams appear in the top 100 of these polls. Newton is No. 26 in MaxPreps and No. 53 in NationalHSFB.com. Creekside ranks No. 37 in MaxPreps and No. 40 in NationalHSFB.com. Lowndes is No. 63 in MaxPreps and No. 55 in NationalHSFB.com.

Sandy Creek appears at No. 34 in MaxPreps and No. 69 in NationalHSFB.com. Milton is No. 51 in MaxPreps. Gainesville sits at No. 66 in MaxPreps. Grayson is No. 67 in MaxPreps and No. 70 in NationalHSFB.com.

Valdosta ranks No. 84 in MaxPreps and No. 89 in NationalHSFB.com. North Gwinnett is No. 85 in NationalHSFB.com and No. 73 in Massey Ratings. Lee County also holds a No. 29 spot in MaxPreps and No. 100 in NationalHSFB.com according to the source data, though the top 25 entry is the primary change this week.
