Goodwill Industries of Central Florida has appointed Steve Nakagawa as its new Vice President of Mission Impact.
The organization announced the appointment in late October. Nakagawa brings more than 30 years of leadership experience spanning military service, technology and nonprofit management. He is a retired U.S. Navy captain who has held senior roles in both military and civilian organizations. Most recently, he served as program director for Cenfluence, an initiative under the Florida High Tech Corridor that works with high-tech startups and regional industry growth. His prior work centered on workforce development and partnerships in Central Florida.
Nakagawa has received several recognitions for his leadership and community service. Orange County gave him its Distinguished Asian American Award in 2015. The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority presented him with the Colonel Joe Kittinger Award in 2024. In 2025, the Orlando Business Journal named him one of its "15 People to Know in Aerospace & Technology."
Nakagawa described the work ahead at Goodwill. "Lasting community impact comes from understanding people's needs and building the right partnerships to meet them," he said. "I look forward to this new mission with Goodwill, as we continue to open new opportunities that expand access to the resources Central Floridians need to thrive personally and professionally."
The appointment places Nakagawa over mission impact functions at the nonprofit. Goodwill Industries of Central Florida operates its Prosperity Platform and workforce development opportunities through its website at www.GoodwillCFL.org.
