The Ronald McDonald House in Mobile has dropped the word 'Charities' from its official name. Effective October 15, 2026, the organization is now known as Ronald McDonald House Mobile. The change follows a worldwide brand update introduced by the global parent organization in 2025.

The rebranding effort aims to create a unified identity for chapters around the globe. Local leaders said the new name anchors the organization in the community it serves. The group previously operated as Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mobile. It has provided housing for families with ill or injured children in south Alabama and along the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 2000.

The visual identity now includes a refreshed logo and a shared tagline: 'Family Stays.' The organization stated that this phrase distinguishes permanent family presence from casual visitor support. It emphasizes that parents and caregivers remain close to their children during medical treatments, even when their own lives are put on hold.

Despite the cosmetic updates, the operational model remains unchanged. The house continues to provide a place for families to stay while their children receive healthcare. The organization noted that the cost to operate a room is approximately $55 per night. Families are never charged for this stay, a policy that relies on community support to cover the expenses.

The Mobile chapter said the name change reflects who they are and what they do. It aligns with a broader goal to make the brand more recognizable across all locations. While the global network continues to grow, the local focus remains on serving families in the immediate region.

The transition marks a shift from a specific legal entity name to a service-oriented title. The organization maintains its commitment to the belief that family support is vital to healing. Parents and caregivers are supported throughout their child's medical journey, allowing them to stay just steps from the hospital.

The new identity is live across all channels as of the October date. The organization continues its work with the same core purpose: caring for families during challenging times. The change is described as a small adjustment that reinforces the group's local roots while joining a larger global network.
