Shareholders of the Indian pharmaceutical company saw a sharp increase in returns. Granules India announced on Monday that its net profit for the second quarter ended September 30 reached 1.82 billion rupees. That figure represents a rise of nearly 40% from the 1.31 billion rupees recorded during the same period a year ago. The company attributes the growth to robust demand in overseas markets, which helped balance out higher production expenses.

Total revenue from operations climbed 20.3% to 15.60 billion rupees. North America was the primary driver, contributing 72% of the total revenue. Prasad Chigurupati, the chairman and managing director, noted that the company is actively managing financial strains. He stated, "Cost pressures will persist, and we are working with customers to manage them with a lag."

Expenses increased alongside the revenue growth. Total expenses rose 18.5% for the quarter. A major component of that increase was the cost of materials consumed, which jumped 23.2%. These figures reflect the broader inflationary trends affecting global supply chains for essential medicines.

The company maintains a dominant position in the global market for common painkillers. Granules produces about one-third of the world's paracetamol. Its operations span 80 countries through a network of ten manufacturing plants. Seven of these facilities are located in India, while two are in the United States and one is in Europe. This global footprint allows the firm to meet consistent international demand for its core products.
