The longstanding perception that No Limit and Cash Money Records were bitter rivals does not reflect the reality, according to Mia X. The No Limit artist told WZAK's Sam Sylk on Thursday that the two New Orleans hip-hop labels maintained a friendly relationship behind the scenes, despite the narrative pushed by fans.

Mia X, known as the First Lady of No Limit, clarified that the friction was largely external. "I don't even know where that came from," she said about the perceived rivalry. She emphasized that she has genuine love for Cash Money and its artists.

The rapper revealed a deep personal connection to the Cash Money camp that predates the label's peak. She has been close friends with Cash Money's Slim since 1993 and speaks with him every day. Mia X also credited Cash Money co-founder Birdman with ensuring she was properly compensated for her participation in their Verzuz battle.

The conversation comes on the eve of a major reunion concert scheduled for November 15 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. The event will feature artists from the legendary hip-hop era sharing a stage, including Mia X, Fiend, and Boosie. Mia X said the group opens the show before the remaining acts take over. She described the experience of performing alongside Cash Money and Boosie as amazing.

Mia X also recounted the origins of her career with No Limit. In 1994, she was performing at clubs and working at a record store in New Orleans. C-Murder, a frequent visitor to the store, noticed her work and performance. He later told Master P about her, a connection that brought Mia X into the No Limit family where she became a defining artist for the label.

For Mia X, the music continues to bridge generational gaps. She said one of the best parts of performing these timeless records is watching fans bring their children to experience the songs. She expressed specific excitement about visiting Cleveland, a city she said she loves, and looked forward to returning for another night of music and celebration.
