The next round of direct talks between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine is locked in for a date after November 4, according to Yuri Ushakov, an aide to President Vladimir Putin. Ushakov told the Interfax news agency that the specific day will be determined by conditions on the battlefield and the general state of the conflict.
This scheduling comes after a brief period of uncertainty regarding whether the meeting would proceed at all. Earlier this month, Ushakov stated that Russia was prepared to resume trilateral consultations once the date of November 4 had passed. That date marks the end of the US presidential election cycle, a timing factor that has complicated the diplomatic timeline.
Ushakov specified that the upcoming session is a technical exchange. He noted that representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States will participate. He clarified that European leaders are not included in this specific format of the talks.
Regarding the Russian delegation, Ushakov said a core team exists, but the final composition will be announced in the near future. He did not list the names of the officials who will sit at the table.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has indicated that Russia appears serious about holding a meeting in Abu Dhabi. Zelenskyy added that the timing of the early November session depends on the United States.
The next scheduled step is the announcement of the Russian delegation's final roster, which Ushakov said will happen soon.
