Publix store in Marion Oaks nears opening

The new Publix supermarket in Marion Oaks is almost built.

Javier Arrillaga, a local resident who tracks neighborhood development, posted photos this week showing the building in its final phase. The store sits on a 19.4-acre parcel at the corner of SW Highway 484 and SW 49th Court Road. It is located at 5201 SW Hwy 484, directly north of the Ocala South Logistics Park. The project first made headlines in February 2025. Since then, crews have pushed the structure upward and moved through steady construction phases earlier this year.

The store will serve as the anchor tenant for the Diamond A Shopping Center. The plaza includes several other empty lots reserved for future businesses. Publix plans to open the doors early next year. This addition brings the total number of Publix locations inside Ocala city limits to eleven.

The nearest current store is the Cherrywood Market, which sits about five miles to the north. The new location aims to serve residents in the southern part of the metro area who currently drive farther to shop. The shopping center is part of the larger Marion Oaks development project.

Arrillaga continues to document the progress for the community. The final touches on the building are underway as the team prepares for the upcoming launch.
