Air travel security protocols rarely encounter objects straight from comic books, but that is exactly what happened at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Transportation Security Administration officers discovered a multi-bladed item in a passenger's carry-on bag during a routine screening.

Douglas Linn, a TSA officer, identified the object on an X-ray screen. He noted three blades and distinct claw-like features in the image. Linn stated that in his two years with the agency, he had never seen anything similar.

The item, which officials described as a mix of Wolverine-style claws and Freddy Krueger blades, was removed from the bag by property search officer Dennis Oishi. Oishi confirmed the prohibited nature of the object during the search.

The passenger voluntarily abandoned the items after Oishi removed them. The traveler admitted he was unsure if there were sharp objects in the bag when asked by Oishi.

Ann Rhoades, a supervisory TSA officer with seven years of experience, called the find one of the most unusual items she has encountered. She noted the passenger initially said he was not sure about sharp objects before the claw set was revealed.
