SSA Sends $994 SSI Payments Early
Supplemental Security Income recipients will receive November funds on Friday, Oct. 30, because the first of the month falls on a Sunday.

The Social Security Administration is processing November Supplemental Security Income payments on Friday, Oct. 30. This earlier deposit occurs because Nov. 1, 2026, is a Sunday. The standard payment schedule requires SSI funds to arrive on the first day of each month. When that date lands on a weekend, the agency sends the money on the preceding business day.
This timing means some beneficiaries will receive two SSI deposits in October. The first covers the current month, while the second covers November. This second payment is an advance due to the calendar. It is not a bonus or a benefit increase. Recipients should not expect another regular SSI payment in November. The next scheduled SSI deposit is Tuesday, Dec. 1.
SSI serves adults and children with disabilities or blindness who have limited income and resources. It also covers individuals aged 65 and older who meet specific financial criteria. Age alone does not guarantee eligibility. The agency reviews available cash and other resources to determine who qualifies. The general resource limit is $2,000 for an individual and $3,000 for a couple. Non-U.S. citizens face additional requirements beyond age or disability status.
The maximum federal monthly payment for 2026 is $994 for a single recipient. A couple where both spouses qualify can receive up to $1,491. Not all recipients receive these maximum amounts. Individual income, family income, and housing situations can lower the total. For example, a spouse’s earnings can affect the calculation. For child beneficiaries, parents’ income may also be considered. Some states provide extra supplements that increase the final check. The $994 figure represents the federal ceiling, not a guaranteed amount for every person.
People who receive both SSI and Social Security retirement benefits follow two different schedules. Their SSI payment arrives on Oct. 30. Their retirement benefit is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3. Those who began receiving Social Security before May 1997 usually get paid on the third of the month. Other beneficiaries receive checks on specific Wednesdays based on their birth dates. Those born from the 1st to the 10th get paid on the second Wednesday. Those born from the 11th to the 20th get paid on the third Wednesday. Those born from the 21st to the 31st get paid on the fourth Wednesday.
If a payment does not arrive on the expected date, recipients should wait three days before contacting the Social Security Administration. The agency advises this buffer to account for banking processing times.
